Swig's remarkable history of charity is quite evident, for he has won several awards for his philanthropic efforts since 2000. Most notably, Kent Swig received the “Man of the Year” award from the Realty Foundation. Kent Swig's other philanthropic efforts include furniture donations to MFTA and a $1.3M donation for the David Rockwell children's playground.

Philanthropy is often best executed when businesses take advantage of their expertise and resources. Partnerships and sharing of resources like these, are exactly what earned Kent Swig the 2005 Realty Foundation "Man of the year" award.

Kent Swig - Philanthropist and Mentor

Kent Swig has gained much acclaim over the past several years not only for his business savvy, but also for his humanitarian and political efforts.

In terms of his acquisitions and development, Kent Swig's name is associated with many companies. Kent Swig is the President of Swig Equities, Owner of Falcon Pacific Construction, acting president and owner of Helmsley Spear, Pricipal in and board member of Swig Company, as well as the co-chairman and owner of Terra Holdings.

Swig's multi-faceted history led Professor Josef Mittlemann of Brown University to bring his class to visit Kent Swig on a field trip to New York, to meet with some of today’s top business leaders/philanthropists. These business leaders/philanthropists that Professor Mittlemann introduced to his class include some highly versatile individuals who function as benefactors as well as businessmen. Check out any of their online profiles, and you will see numerous charitable organizations as well as tremendous success in their business ventures listed.

Kent Swig perfectly fit this profile, as he is actually a Brown alumnus, with a degree in Chinese History. Kent Swig's variegated history is what makes him completely unique in the business world. Kent Swig's philosophy appears to be as follows: use whatever success and influence that you have generated in business for the general benefit and well-being of others.

This is not the first time Kent Swig has met with classes from Brown; he has met students six times before, since the class originally started back in 2003. This certainly is an incredible opportunity and a remarkably valuable experience for college students. It is not often you get the chance to talk one on one face to face with a success story of Kent Swig's caliber. A tremendous opportunity has been handed to these students, and word on the street is that it did not go unappreciated.
